because
because some days you lose sight of your direction. you climb. you wake at first light. you point to the nearest peak. and you climb.
because some days you have to pick yourself up and look at the world anew. you climb. you have to breathe hard to get there. you feel an aching in your bones. because some days you have to look back at where you came from to know where you're going next. you climb.
because some weeks in winter you have stayed too long sheltered. you climb. you feel the cold air in your lungs and the cold rain on your face. and it's so good.
such sweet relief when the body moves. up and out. step by step. you move. because.

lately listening to...
...amazing radio shows that stick with me hours and days after I've heard them. Here's a few gems...
Radiolab: lost and found. Stories of wonder, heartbreak and hope.
Good interviews on Fresh Air - The Chef Who Lost His Sense of Taste. This one really hit home--food is so central to my being I've often wondered what it would be like to lose my sense of taste.
A look into the world of Ghadafi -- how is he even real??

Goodbye to February Funk ...
The Funk of February came on many fronts--
Indian pizza in bed on valentines & weddings well-officiated by my favorite dudist priest.
March. Bring it. I'm ready for your seedlings and adventurings and longer daylight hours.
But there were highlights of February:
a day of work in Sausalito learning about the Mississippi Delta.

saturdays spent eating pastry, drinking coffee and rainy walks with friends.
